Ministry of Islamic Affairs has opened new registrations for the poor and needy in the Greater Male’ Region.
The Islamic ministry said individuals in Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’ who wish to newly register for the register of the poor and needy can submit their applications to the ministry from December 22 to January 19. Application forms are available from the reception of the Islamic ministry, and are also available for download from the ministry website.
The Islamic ministry stated individuals who received Zakat Al-Mal in 2022 will not have to register as they are already registered. However, families with a member who will reach 18 or 65 years of age by January 19, 2023, need to re-register.
As of 2021, a total of 7,700 people were registered as poor in the Maldives.
