HDC to provide training in boating from a gulf country

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed that individuals have been given the opportunity to train in the field of boating and gain practical experience in a Gulf country.

The opportunity was provided by HDC, the Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC), and a foreign institute. A total of 10 participants between the ages of 18-35 were selected for the Urban Youth Programme and were awarded certificates at a ceremony held at HDC. The programme aims to build talented and strong youth and upon completion, the participant will obtain a Royal Yachting Association license which will allow the operation of a motorboat anywhere in the world.

Managing Director of HDC Ahmed Athif said the work is in line with the government's policy to prepare the youth for the opportunities available in the Maldives. Similarly, he said HDC has launched various programmes and so far, internship and apprenticeship programmes have brought many youths into the job market. He added that HDC has never participated in such an international-level programme before, adding that this is the first such programme with an international license. He also mentioned that boating is a field with many opportunities in the Maldives.

Managing Director of MITDC Mohamed Raaidh said the 10 participants will have the opportunity to gain training and practical experience in a Gulf country. He said the country they receive the training will bear all the expenses for the programme.

The participants of the programme will be given a two-day theoretical training and 10 weeks of practical experience sessions will be conducted abroad. The participants who complete the programme will also have the opportunity to work in a Gulf country.
