PSM signs on as media partner for National Quran Competition

Public Service Media (PSM) has signed on as the media partner for the 35th National Quran Competition. The agreement was signed by Director at PSM Ibrahim Iqbal and Director at the National Centre for the Holy Quran Ibrahim Abdul Kareem.

The National Quran Competition will be held from December 23 to January 1, 2023, in Male' City alongside the Quran festival. Both the competition and festival will be held at separate auditoriums in King Salman Mosque. The competition will be aired live on PSM’s Islamic TV channel, Munnaaru.

The National Quran Recitation Competition has been held by the government since 1981 and it is organised to encourage the love of reciting the Holy Quran in the hearts of individuals. A total of 1,033 competitors will be participating in this year’s Quran competition, including hafizes and individuals representing schools, local councils, clubs and organisations, companies, and institutions. As such, 603 competitors have registered for the category of recitation, 416 competitors have registered for the category of recitation by heart, and 14 have registered for the hafiz category.

The opening ceremony of the Quran competition will be held on December 22. During the competition, stalls inside the mosque’s compound which will have religious books for sale.
