President concludes official visit to three islands of Gaafu Alifu Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his two-day official visit to three islands of Gaafu Alifu Atoll and returned to Malé City. He visited Dhaandhoo, Nilandhoo, and Maamendhoo.

During the visit, President Solih attended the ceremony held to mark the completion of land reclamation in Dhaandhoo. The project saw the addition of 25 hectares of land to the island. He also attended the official inauguration of new powerhouses developed on the Nilandhoo and Maamendhoo. The new power plant in Nilandhoo can generate 1,050kW of energy, and the power plant in Maamendhoo has a capacity of 1400kW.

During his visit, President Solih also met with the local communities, island councils, and women’s development committees (WDC) of the respective islands. A high-level government delegation is accompanying him on the visit.
