MTCC completes road canal work for Hithaadhoo harbour

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the road canal project as part of the ongoing renovation and expansion of the harbour in Hithaadhoo, Baa Atoll.

The harbour renovation and expansion section of the project started in June. As part of the project, the existing road canal has been excavated and the section of the road canal has been levelled, a concrete pavement with geobags has been placed to prevent sand from falling into the harbour.

MTCC revealed the scope of the project includes dredging and excavation operations of 19,030cbm, construction of a 22m groyne, a 495m breakwater, a 90m revetment, a 350m quay wall, and installation of a 1750sqm harbour pavement, navigational aids, and harbour lights. The harbour redevelopment project in Hithaadhoo was contracted to MTCC at a cost of USD1.15 million.
