Dhiraagu has announced that it will discontinue its DhiraaguTV and DhiraaguPlay services from January 29, 2023.
In a statement, Dhiraagu said its Rebroadcasting License will expire on January 19, 2023, and that its application to renew the license was rejected by the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) based on the amendments to the Rebroadcasting Regulation prohibits companies with foreign shareholders from providing rebroadcasting services in the Maldives.
Dhiraagu said its Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to discontinue DhiraaguTV and DhiraaguPlay services and mitigate any further loss. In addition, Dhiraagu has also agreed to provide its IPTV/OTT network as a service to a newly licensed rebroadcaster, SS Network Private Limited.
