HDC to tow over 400 illegally parked vehicles in Hulhumale’

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun towing over 400 illegally parked vehicles in Hulhumale’.

HDC is towing the vehicles with the help of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) after conducting a survey on parked vehicles in Hulhumale’. The survey found many vehicles which are illegally parked or abandoned in parking zones and empty land plots. They include 370 unregistered vehicles and 46 vehicles which are broken beyond repair.

HDC stated that the vehicles to be towed include cars, motorcycles, pickups, and vans as well as heavy vehicles used in construction. Residents of Hulhumale’ have complained of vehicles being left abandoned on the streets, which makes the streets unpleasant and difficult to use.
