Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has allowed cash card payment for the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) bus service in the Greater Male' Region.
MTCC said passengers can now pay for bus service using the tap-and-pay method if they have a contactless MasterCard or Visa debit or credit card from any bank in the world. Validators for ticket payments through StarCard and Visa contactless cards will be installed in all RTL buses in the city, according to MTCC.
Speaking to the media following the introduction of the service, CEO of MTCC Adam Azim said the service has been much sought by the public and the service will be easier for passengers than ever before with the new bus payment arrangement. He said that customers can now travel from one place to another without any difficulties even if they do not have cash.
MTCC said payments can be made in three methods following the latest additional payment arrangement for the convenience of the public using the RTL bus service. As such, MTCC has enabled cash payment, online payment, and the Tap to Pay method. As of now, cash card payments are only introduced in Greater Male' Region. However, MTCC said the service will soon be launched in other areas where bus services are being provided.
