Bank of Maldives (BML) has decided to expand its services abroad by opening a new branch. The announcement was made by Managing Director of BML Karl Stumke in the ceremony held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of BML.
At the ceremony held at Crossroads Maldives, Stumke stated the board has set additional goals for the expansion of the services of the bank. He said the board has set new goals for its growth and employees before its 50th-anniversary adding efforts are underway to open a branch abroad within the next 18 months.
Furthermore, Stumke noted the aim is to launch services in at least two countries by the time BML turns 50. The company's capital base will be increased to USD1.62 billion by the 50th year, he expressed.
However, the bank did not disclose the countries where it will open branches abroad.
BML has 350,000 customers using its banking services. BML already has 63 million mobile banking logins. With a nationwide network of 35 branches across all 20 atolls, 82 Self Service Banking Centres, 140 ATMs, over 200 agents and a full suite of Digital Banking services, BML is committed to supporting individuals, businesses and communities across Maldives.
