HDC's visionary plan for Hulhumale' promising

This is the land people did not want to live in, even when they were offered free land. However, 25 years after it was reclaimed and populated, the land has turned to gold. Everyone dreams about living in Hulhumale'. The citizens are renting places and buying land at high prices.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is tasked with managing and working for the betterment of Hulhumale' Therefore, HDC has already planned many projects for the development of the city. The company has now added sections to its list of new announcements. This time, Phase 2, which is now the most populated, is also included.

As per the new plan, changes will be made to the vacant areas of the city. HDC intends to utilise the vacant area as a sports and entertainment area. There will be two venues for events and cafes. Moreover, there will also be seating for families to spend time in. HDC plan also includes the development of water sports and various sports facilities in Hulhumale'.

Furthermore, these days the busiest area is the beach in Hulhumale' Phase 2. Families enjoy picnics, swimming, water sports and children's parties as well. HDC said further plans for Phase 2 are included in the new development plan. As such, HDC revealed it included developing watersports huts in Phase 2 similar to Phase 1.

Hulhumale' is the first ever smart city to be designed and developed in the Maldives. In October 2022, HDC hosted a study tour for secondary school students to provide them with knowledge of the smart city solutions in Hulhumale'. The tour was held to mark the one-year anniversary of HDC's Open Access Network. HDC also held a Smartcom Fair in Central Park in December 2022.

HDC has begun to build a community hub in Hulhumale' to transform the city. HDC has also announced a plan to create bicycle lanes in Hulhumale'. As part of the new plan, the roads have been divided into four lanes to mark the bike route. Buses and motorcycles will be in separate lanes.

HDC gives special priority to providing facilities for visitors to Hulhumlae'.
