Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Hameed said that the centre is one of the most important and largest efforts made to reform and strengthen MPS. He said that the door is finally opened to provide modern training and experience to the police force.
Additionally, Commissioner Hameed said there is still a lot of work to be done to strengthen the police service. He noted that cyber crimes, terrorism, drugs, and violence against women and children are areas where the police need additional training when dealing with such cases. As such, he said that the training centre will be the gateway to conducting research on the police service and the criminal environment in the Maldives and to provide the necessary education and training.
