Maldives and Cambodia discuss increasing investments

The Maldives and Cambodia have discussed increasing direct investments between the two countries.

The discussion was held at the Maldives-Cambodia Business Forum, which was attended by local business delegates, government officials, and members of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce. The forum showcased investment opportunities for commercial interactions and future collaboration.

Speaking at the forum, Minister of State for Economic Development Mohamed Iaad Hameed said the Maldives and Cambodia have made economic progress in the past few years. He also noted the successful efforts made by both countries in overcoming the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, State Minister Iaad said that the Maldives and Cambodia need to strengthen their ties as their economies grow by increasing partnerships and investments. He highlighted that the two countries rely on tourism and invited the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce to collaborate with the Maldives to increase the number of tourist visits to both countries.

Furthermore, State Minister Iaad said that the two countries can work together to develop their fisheries and agriculture sectors as well as businesses in the private sector. He expressed confidence that the network developed at the forum will enhance business partnerships and opportunities. He assured that the government will continue to cooperate and assist Cambodian and Maldivian businesses.
