Maldives and Cambodia discuss enhancing tourism cooperation

Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed his delight at discovering the tourism sector of the Maldives at such an advanced level and said that the tourism cooperation between both countries would be fruitful. He made the statement during a courtesy call by Vice President Faisal Naseem.

During the meeting held at Paradise Island Resort, Vice President Naseem described Prime Minister Hun Sen’s visit to the Maldives as a crucial demonstration of the close bonds of friendship between the Maldives and Cambodia. He also shed light on the fact that this year marks the 28th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Cambodia.

At the meeting, Vice President Naseem and Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed interest in working closely to discuss matters of mutual interest, particularly to enhance and strengthen the existing cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels. They spoke about cooperation in the fields of agriculture, higher education, trade, and tourism and discussed issues of mutual interest such as renewable energy, climate change, and economic diversification.

Furthermore, Vice President Naseem expressed his belief that the exchange of visits at the highest level was important to move bilateral relations to new heights. He also expressed confidence that the official talks concluded between the two nations were productive and paved the way for greater cooperation and collaboration between the Maldives and Cambodia.

Concluding the meeting, Vice President Naseem and Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed hope to continue frequent exchanges to further enhance the Maldives-Cambodia relationship and explore new avenues to strengthen the existing cooperation. Prime Minister Hun Sen is on an official visit to the Maldives at the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He held the meeting with Vice President Naseem after an official luncheon hosted by President Solih.
