Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has said the Visa Exemption Agreement will increase cooperation in the future and will allow greater people-to-people contact between the Maldives and Cambodia. He made the statement during a courtesy call to the Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
At the meeting held at Paradise Island Resort, Minister Shahid welcomed Prime Minister Hun Sen and his delegation to the Maldives and reaffirmed the view of the government of the Maldives that both countries can pursue closer cooperation on all aspects of bilateral relations, as well as regionally and internationally. He also noted the Maldives stands ready to implement the outcomes agreed upon during the Official Talks held between President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Prime Minister Hun Sen.
It is Prime Minister Hun Sen's first official visit to the Maldives. He will depart from the Maldives on January 17.
