Labour Relations Authority services established in Baa Atoll

Labour Relations Authority (LRA) has established a desk in Eydhafushi and expanded its services to Baa Atoll.

The desk was opened by Baa Atoll Council, which stated it will conduct inspections and provide information on laws related to labour. The council expects the desk to resolve local cases of job-related disputes, instead of residents having to submit their cases to the main office of LRA in Male’ City. The desk will now be reviewing all relevant complaints submitted by residents of the atoll.

LRA highlighted that the number of complaints regarding employment has been increasing year by year and that establishing branches in the atolls is an important step in providing services to citizens and investigating the complaints in a decentralised manner. LRA is headquartered in Male’ City but signed agreements to establish branches in Shaviyani Atoll, Raa Atoll, and Baa Atoll in 2022.
