President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed he will be the first president ever to hand over the keys of flats that were commenced during an ongoing presidential term. He made the remarks while addressing the campaign rally held for the presidential primary of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Speaking at the rally, President Solih highlighted some of the work done by his government during the past four years. The president also responded to criticism claiming the government is not completing its development works. The president questioned whether the path of development would continue or whether it would be derailed. He said the upcoming presidential election will decide whether the state budget will be spent on development projects or pepper spray.
Furthermore, President Solih said the upcoming presidential election is the first opportunity for MDP to secure a second term. He said there would be things that need to be done and things that should be avoided to ensure the Maldives is run on the right path of democracy. He said all citizens deserve to live in peace and the people need good income, good housing, and a happy life.
Moreover, President Solih said some of the flats being built by the government in the Greater Male' Region will be handed over before the end of his term which will make him the first president ever to hand over keys to flats that were begun on the respective presidential term. He added the upcoming presidential term is the last chance for the MDP to complete all the unfinished projects.
