Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced the fieldwork for the harbour development project in Muli, Meemu Atoll.
The project was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim and Parliamentarian Ikram Hassan. Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure awarded MTCC the contract on November 28, 2022, for the development of a modern harbour in Muli.
MTCC is tasked with developing a 479m harbour in Muli. The island has a population of over 6,000 residents and its existing harbour has been showing signs of wear and tear. The state-owned company will also be building a 465m outer wall, 89m revetment, a ramp, a concrete bridge payment, and installing streetlights. It is also tasked with completing the project within 18 months at a cost of USD4.3 million.
