Addu City Council to open applications for 500 land plots

Addu City Council has decided to open applications for 500 land plots in three islands.

Addu City Council will be opening applications for 100 land plots in Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, 350 plots in Feydhoo, and 300-400 plots in Hithadhoo. The plots will be designated from vacant land on the islands. Of these, 90% of the plots will be allocated to the residents of the island and 10% of the plots will be allocated to residents of other islands. Applications will be accepted from February 2-16. The details of the documents to be submitted with the form are also detailed in the notice.

It has been over 15 years since land plots have been given out in Addu, the second-largest city in the Maldives. The housing issue is the most severe in Hithadhoo, which has over 16,000 residents. Land plots were last given out in Hithadhoo in 2002. Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar said land will be allocated from the vacant land and expressed hope to provide residents most in need of housing although the amount of land plots allocated will not provide a complete solution.
