Mathivari and Maalhos reclamation to begin as pledged: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the land reclamation project for Mathiveri and Maalhos in Alifu Alifu Atoll has been planned and is a pledge the government will fulfill. He made the remarks while addressing the campaign rally held for the presidential primary of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in Maalhos.

Speaking at the gathering, President Solih said that many development works are being carried out in each of the five islands of the Mathiveri constituency. He aims to provide basic services to every citizen without discrimination.

Futhermore, President Solih said the previous administrations have neglected the atoll although it pays the highest amount of taxes. He, however, said many development projects are being carried out in all the islands of the atoll including the five islands of the Mathivari constituency. He mentioned that the land reclamation project for Mathiveri and Maalhos will start during the current term. He also said that development projects have been carried out in the health sector of the area.

Additionally President Solih highlighted freedom of expression and said that the freedom of assembly, expression and press were withheld during the previous government. He said that such freedom will not be withheld and interfered with by this government.

Moreover, President Solih also said that more than USD13 million worth of projects have been implemented in five islands of Mathiveri constituency from 2019-2020. He said he would bring solutions to the problems faced by all the islands in the atoll.
