Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has decided to provide leeway for tenants struggling to pay rent for the 704 flats built in Hulhumale’ under the Gedhoruverikurun Programme.
The ministry has provided the opportunity for tenants who have been unable to pay their monthly rent to reschedule the payment of rent and outstanding payments. Interested individuals are required to submit their request by February 28.
In 2022, some tenants of the 704 flats of the Gedhoruverikurun Programme were also unable to pay their rent and signed a settlement agreement to split the payment of outstanding fees and fines over six months. The flats were built by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) and tenants moved in in 2018.
