The Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has revealed that the development of its new head office will begin in the next quarter. The project to develop the new MTDC head office was inaugurated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid at the ceremony held to mark its 15th anniversary.
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director Thazmeel Abdul Samad highlighted the challenges that MTDC had to overcome, including the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that it has been able to increase its revenue generation despite the setbacks. Additionally, he said that MTDC aims to expand its services and become more profitable. He said that the development of the new head office will greatly assist these efforts and that MTDC is currently finalising the design and gaining the necessary approval prior to beginning fieldwork.
MTDC bought a 6,000sqft land plot in Hulhumale' to construct the new office building. The company plans to construct the building with the latest facilities including a multipurpose hall, gym, and business lounge. The project is expected to be completed by late 2024.
