President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed the aim of developing Kudagiri Picnic Island is to build a healthy and strong society. He made the remarks while speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate Kudagiri developed for the residents of the Greater Male' Region.
At the ceremony held to inaugurate Kudagiri, President Solih said a healthy and fit society is crucial in order to flourish as a nation. He said therefore the main aim of developing the island is to provide a good environment for people living in crowded and mentally disturbing environments to enjoy. He also said maintaining social cohesion and social harmony is an important goal of the administration.
Furthermore, President Solih noted allocation of Kuda Bandos which was previously used as a picnic island for an alternative purpose was a huge disappointment for citizens adding the residents of the Greater Male' Region have been deprived of a comfortable environment for the past 10 years. He added Kudagiri will facilitate an opportunity for families and friends to enjoy.
Noting that people of all ages would visit the island, President Solih asked visitors to exercise the utmost respect for one another. He asked them to preserve the island as a happy and tranquil environment. He also requested Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to make the necessary changes to the island based on feedback from visitors.
Moreover, President Solih announced that HDC would develop a smaller island dedicated to scouting and girl-guide activities near Kudagiri.
