Immigration opens visa applications for foreign Quran reciters

Maldives Immigration has opened special visa applications for foreign Quran reciters that plan to visit the Maldives for the month of Ramadan.

Foreign Huffaz and Qaris are brought to the Maldives for Tarawih prayers during the month of Ramadan each year. As such, Immigration will be issuing them special visas that will be valid for 45 days upon their arrival.

Immigration stated the application for special visas for foreign Quran reciters must be submitted through the Imuga portal with the necessary documents such as a passport copy and a permit from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The visa approval will be notified through the portal within seven days after the application is submitted.

Immigration advised institutions sponsoring the visit of Quran reciters to handle their visa process and handle their departure before their visas expire. It is also the responsibility of the institutions to complete the special visa application process and sponsorship declaration prior to their arrival.
