MPL prepares for Ramadan with new vehicles

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has made preparations to effectively unload goods during the month of Ramadan with the use of new vehicles.

MPL noted that four Reach Stackers were brought in to handle cargo containers at the ports. The new vehicles will be used to transfer 40ft fully loaded containers to loading crafts.

MPL has assured that cargo ships traveling to the Maldives will not find it difficult to unload goods during the month of Ramadan, as more workers and procured vehicles to clear goods. MPL has also established temporary sheds for operations at the Male’ and Hulhumale’ ports.

The number of food imports during Ramadan last year was higher than in the previous three years. Similar to previous years, MPL will prepare for Ramadan by allocating vehicles to speed up the unloading process at ports in response to the increase in the import of cargo, especially perishable goods.
