HDC seeks party to develop a community centre in Hulhumale'

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced seeking interested parties to develop another community centre in Hulhumale'. HDC has now opened the opportunity to submit Expression of Interest (EOI) for the project.

HDC decided to build the community centre in Neighborhood 2 in Hulhumale' Phase I. HDC allocated more than 14,000sqm of land behind Amin Avenue for the project. The project is open on develop and operate model.

The main purpose of the centre is to provide space to provide various services to the public with the increasing population in Hulhumale'. The centre will also include a cinema, library, bookstores, sports activities and events requested by the public and various agencies, said the corporation. In addition, HDC decided to allow photo booths to be set up as recreational spaces where interested parties can go with family and friends.

The deadline for the submission of EOI is March 9, 2023 before 1400hrs to the HDC headquarters or via email. Along with the announcement, HDC has also issued a guideline to follow when at the site. As such, there is a possibility of developing centre with seven floors so accessible arrangements should be made for all parties. There should also be cafes and restaurants. At the same time, there should be adequate parking for individuals travelling to the site and a plan to manage the waste that will be generated there. HDC also requested that the building be designed in an environmentally friendly, cost-effective and sustainable manner.
