Vice President Faisal Naseem has launched a nationwide anti-bullying campaign.
The month-long anti-bullying campaign is part of the student-led Smile On drive launched to promote positivity and spread kindness within the school community. The campaign will be held until March 23 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the non-governmental organisation (NGO) Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC). The activities of the anti-bullying campaign will be held under the themes of honesty, respecting differences, and responsiveness.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali said that schools have initiated many programmes to help in the growth of students. She also said that students need a safe environment in order to continue their education effectively, which is why a campaign has been launched to prevent bullying.
The activities of the anti-bullying campaign will begin each week with an assembly led by students. Afterward, all students will be required to participate in daily activities based on a specific theme. Students will also participate in discussions of case studies while parents will be required to send a message to teachers each week on the work being done at home based on the week’s theme.
