The Labour Relations Authority (LRA) has stated that employers will need to pay USD195 to their employees before the month of Ramadan.
LRA stated that the Employment Act dictates that every Muslim employee needs to be paid USD195 before the month of Ramadan. It noted previous incidents where employers had failed to provide the Ramadan benefits on time or paid a lower amount to their employees.
LRA urged employers to pay the Ramadan benefits as dictated in the Employment Act this year. It warned that it will investigate and penalise employers that do not comply.
