Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has said that students are showing an increased interest in STEM subjects. She made the remarks while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Ooredoo STEM Fair 2023.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Aishath said such fairs are very useful for developing knowledge, thinking and creativity skills in students. She also said that such fairs are showing an increased interest from local students in STEM subjects and this is a positive change.
Furthermore, Minister Aishath thanked Ooredoo Maldives for taking the initiative to hold such a fair for the students. She also thanked those who provide assistance in various ways to prepare students for STEM jobs, noting that such fairs also create more interest in STEM subjects.
The fair which was held at the Izzudheen School Hall in Male' City gave students the opportunity to showcase their innovative solutions in different STEM fields: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Iskandhar School was selected as the overall best among the schools participating in the fair. The fair also awarded prizes of USD648 to the winners of the junior, senior and novice categories.
Ooredoo Maldives was delighted to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity through the fair.
