Saudi Arabia donates 50 tonnes of dates to Maldives

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has revealed that the government of Saudi Arabia has decided to donate 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali said the donation is expected to reach the Maldives by the beginning of Ramadan. He said the first batch will be distributed to those on the poor list. He said the remaining batches of dates will then be distributed to different households in the country.

The government of Saudi Arabia has been donating dates to the Maldives every year during the month of Ramadan. As such, Saudi Arabia also donated 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives last year.
