Gov't seeks contractor to build 200 housing units in Hithadhoo

Ministry of Finance has announced the requirements for the construction of 200 housing units on a design-and-build basis in Hithadhoo, Addu City.

The finance ministry opened bids for the project and the selection of the most qualified bidder will be conducted on the basis of the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) rules. A non-refundable registration fee of USD32 before April 3 will be needed in order to participate in the bid. The finance ministry also stated that the bid security for the project will be USD71,335. The term of the bid security is 148 days from the date of bid opening on April 5.

Meanwhile, Addu City Council has decided to open applications for 500 land plots on three islands. The council will be opening applications for 100 land plots in Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, 350 plots in Feydhoo, and 300-400 plots in Hithadhoo.

It has been over 15 years since land plots have been given out in Addu, the second-largest city in the Maldives. The housing issue is the most severe in Hithadhoo, which has over 16,000 residents, and land plots were last given out in 2002.
