Gov’t provides easier means to pay expatriate quota fee

The Ministry of Economic Development has provided easier means by which employers can pay their expatriate quota fee.

The ministry collects the fee via the expatriate management system, Xpat, which has been temporarily suspended to make improvements. The ministry will soon resume services of Xpat and allow employers to easily pay the fee for hiring expatriates under the Employment Act. Employers that utilise their expatriate quota are required to pay a yearly fee of USD130.

The ministry stated that the improved Xpat system will allow employers to schedule their payment within a one-year window. Information on the other changes being made to the system is available on its website and individuals can contact the ministry for further information.

The Xpat system was suspended in February for scheduled maintenance and to implement necessary changes for improving and updating the quota-related services within the Xpat system. An updated user guide for the site and quota services is available on the website. The changes being made to the Xpat system include separating individual and sole proprietorship data, which result in all existing relations within the system of the individual being carried forward to the sole proprietorship profile.
