The national airline, Maldivian, has revealed that flights to the airport developed in Faresmaathoda, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, are now open for booking.
Maldivian launched a special promotion fare for flights to the airport from March 16-19. The national airline stated that a flight from Velana International Airport (VIA) to Faresmaathoda Airport will cost USD102.
Faresmaathoda Airport was developed to cater to domestic flights. Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to complete the project at a cost of about USD10 million. The project involved the development of a 1,200m runway, a taxiway, and an apron, along with the construction of a terminal building and a fire building.
