Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted SJ Trade Private Limited to build 50 housing units in Kurendhoo, Lhaviyani Atoll. The agreement was signed by Director General Ahmed Vishan Naseem and Director at SJ Trade Shihad Ibrahim.
The planning ministry said the project will solve the housing problems faced in Kurendhoo. The ministry said the 50 housing units will be constructed in a 10-storey building on the island. The ministry said the building will also include an elevator, commercial space for businesses, and a service area located on the ground floor of the building.
SJ Trade is required to build 50 housing units in Kurendhoo within 270 days at a cost of USD6.2 million under a design and build policy. The project will be funded under the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP).
The planning ministry stated that each housing unit will consist of three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a laundry space, and a store room. The housing units will be built in a well-lit area with a public park and vehicle parking area.
