President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called on the public to make the best use of the holy month of Ramadan to seek solace and strength in the Holy Quran and to remain steadfast in the path of religious practices and good behaviour. He made the remarks while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 35th National Quran Recitation Competition.
At the ceremony, President Solih congratulated the winners and highlighted the importance of memorising and practising the Tajweed rules of the Quran for the present and the hereafter. He also urged the participants of the competition to continue on their paths.
Additionally, President Solih noted the high number of citizens who have memorised the Quran and spoke about the importance of doing more to maintain their prestige. He also asked the public to question the reason behind the need to invite Huffaz from other countries to lead the prayers during Ramadan.
Furthermore, President Solih reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to upholding and preserving the true values and principles of Islam and the Quran and urged all to strive hard towards instilling those values in young children. He also called on higher education institutions to promote the teachings of the Quran and the message of Islam, supported by scientific research and technological advancements in the modern world.
At the ceremony, President Solih conferred the top awards in the categories of recitation from the book and recitation from memory in addition to the top awards for the leading institution and the competition’s top winners.
