Donation of dates to be distributed from March 26

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has decided to distribute the dates donated by Saudi Arabia from March 26 to April 6.

The ministry stated that the dates will be distributed from 0930hrs to 1200hrs on working days at the ministry’s lobby. Individuals are advised to bring their identification (ID) card when they arrive to receive the dates. Each household registered to the list of poor and needy will receive one packet and the rest of the dates will be distributed to individuals that arrive at the lobby on a first-come, first-served basis.

The government of Saudi Arabia donated 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives. At a ceremony, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari handed over the donation to Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir. Ambassador Aldosari said that the donation was a gift from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and that Saudi Arabia will always maintain a positive relationship with the Maldives.

The government of Saudi Arabia donates dates to the Maldives each year for the month of Ramadan. As such, Saudi Arabia also donated 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives last year.
