PSM launches TVM Quran Channel

Public Service Media (PSM) has launched a new channel called TVM Quran. The channel was officially launched by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir to mark the 45th Anniversary of Television Maldives (TVM).

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Minister Zahir thanked TVM for its efforts to increase religious awareness among the public and its close relationship with religious scholars. He said the Quran is a valuable book that teaches many worldly lessons, adding that it is important to know the meaning of the Quran. He, therefore, said the newly launched Quran channel will benefit the public by providing translations of the Quran in the Dhivehi language.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of PSM Ali Khalid said the channel was launched after considering many factors and he expressed confidence that it could be done without hiring additional staff and incurring additional expenses. He said the channel will broadcast to the public through SS Network Private Limited. He also said that the two parties will work together to improve the channel in the future.

The main purpose of launching the channel is to raise awareness of the translation of the Quran in Dhivehi and to increase the love of the Quran in society. The channel will be available 24hrs a day and this is the first time such a channel has been introduced to the Maldives. This channel will also provide convenience to schools, classes, and the general public, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
