MFDA warns against the use of four types of eye drops

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has warned the public against the use of four types of eye drops.

In a statement, MFDA warned against the use of brands such as Artificial Tears, MM Drops, Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic solution, and Artificial Eye Ointment. These are eye medicines manufactured by American companies. These eye medicines were also recalled by the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).

MFDA said that the eye drops are not on the approved medicine list to be imported and sold in the Maldives. Therefore, MFDA urges the public to be careful as the drug may have been imported for prescription or otherwise. MFDA stated that ports across the country will be paying special attention when importing medicines as a precautionary measure.
