New mosque to be built in Himandhoo

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has contracted Elite International Private Limited for the construction of a mosque in Himandhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and by Director of Elite International Aaiz Rushdie. The new mosque has been tasked to be completed within one year at a cost of USD668,761. The mosque will accommodate 300 worshippers at a time.

The government began the construction of 40 mosques as part of the ongoing efforts to build mosques in different parts of the country. As such, more than 17 mosques are currently constructed and in use.
