The Ministry of Health has signed an agreement with State Trading Organisation (STO) to supply 20 ambulances for hospitals.
The agreement was signed by Minister of State for Health Ahmed Adil and Managing Director of STO Abdulla Saeed. The ambulances are to be supplied to the health ministry within 90 days under the agreement.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem said that STO is providing assistance to the health sector in various ways. He also noted that the state-owned company is working to conduct various training programmes as well.
Meanwhile, Managing Director Abdulla Saeed said that the 20 ambulances will be imported from Japan. STO stated that it had so far brought 96 ambulances to the Maldives. The ambulances have been sent to islands in various atolls where the service is in high demand.
