Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) has been contracted to develop the roads in Alifushi, Raa Atoll. The agreement was signed by the Managing Director of RDC Moosa Ali Manik and Fathimath Shaana Farooq, the Director General at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
As per the agreement, RDC will be paving asphalt on 8.3km of roads in Alifushi as well as installing a stormwater draining system and streetlights. The project consists of the development of seven roads including the main road and the one in front of the school. The company is tasked with completing the project within 540 days at a cost of USD5.8 million.
The government has commenced a total of 16 projects in Alifushi, including the development of an airport. The island has a population of 2,000 residents and is known for boat building.
