Maldives declares April 21 as Eid al-Fitr

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has confirmed the day of Eid al-Fitr in the Maldives is Friday, April 21. The announcement was made by the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir in his statement after the ceremony held to sight the new crescent moon.

Speaking after the moon sighting ceremony, Minister Zahir stated the crescent moon will be visible to all the countries according to scientific observations. Hence, the ministry declared Thursday, April 20 as the last day of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims observe fasting for a month.
