National Centre for Cultural Heritage has contracted Dino Construction Company Private Limited for the redevelopment and modernisation of the National Museum of the Maldives. The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Ahmadhullah Jameel and Managing Director at Dyno Construction Mohamed Ali.
The scope of the project includes the preparation of the National Museum's showcases, the set-up of the multimedia room, the installation of floor runners in the music display area and the painting of the walls. As such, a total of 19 showcases similar to those found in various international museums will be set up and the new multimedia room at the museum will provide video presentations on history to visitors and conduct information sessions for students, according to the centre. The project is being conducted under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Bank of Maldives (BML). The project will cost USD141,374.
The National Museum is a one-stop place for all information about the history, heritage, and culture of the Maldives. The museum also preserves information on the changes taking place, the stages of development, the reigns of sultans, and the special events celebrated in the Maldives. There are many objects that show the life of people of different periods. These include items that reflect the culture, heritage, and art of the people.
The National Centre for Cultural Heritage oversees the preservation and maintenance of all cultural heritage sites in the Maldives. The centre is run under the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage.
