Villa Foundation has introduced a scholarship scheme for nurses in collaboration with the Maldivian Nurses Association (MNA). The scheme is scheduled to be officially launched on the occasion of International Nurses Day.
Speaking at the launch of the scheme, Executive Director of Villa Foundation Mohamed Hameed said nurses play an important role in society. He said the scholarship scheme will provide opportunities for students who wish to study nursing to do valuable work in the health sector of the Maldives.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the MNA Mariyam Shifaana said it was a great pleasure to introduce the scholarship scheme in collaboration with the Villa Foundation. She also described investing in nursing education as a major step to further strengthen the health sector in the Maldives.
Under the scheme, three scholarships will be awarded yearly to students pursuing a diploma in nursing courses at Villa College. As such, two scholarships for women and one scholarship for men will be awarded by the foundation.
MNA is one of the highest-level organisations working to promote the field of nursing in the Maldives. MNA also noted that it is a golden opportunity for those who wish to study nursing under the guidance of the organisation.
