The Maldives has conducted a presentation on tourism investment opportunities in the country with Balkan investors.
The presentation was given during the Bridging Tourism Destination Conference 2023 held in Montenegro. Minister of Tourism Abdulla Mausoom, Deputy Minister of Tourism Naushad Mohamed, and Deputy Minister of Tourism Asad Riza represented the Maldives at the conference which was organised by the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism of Montenegro in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism of Maldives. In addition, representatives from Urbanco and Maldivian also took part in the conference.
Speaking about the conference, Deputy Minister Naushad said that Balkan countries and small countries such as the Maldives have similarities in reviving tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, he said the main objective of the conference was to share the experiences of the countries and identify ways in which countries can work together.
Additionally, Deputy Minister Naushad gave a presentation on tourism investment opportunities in the Maldives. He said that during the session, he shared detailed information with the participants about the opportunities available in the tourism sector in the Maldives.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Naushad discussed increasing air connectivity from Balkan countries. He also said that airlines that participated in the conference expressed interest in launching flights to the Maldives.
The Balkan countries include Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania. The number of tourist arrivals from these countries is increasing year on year, according to the tourism ministry.
