Male' City Council has officially inaugurated the Community Engagement Officers Unit responsible for monitoring the streets of the capital city.
The city council stated that the unit will be responsible for ensuring road safety and addressing the issues in consultation with relevant authorities. The unit consists of 78 employees involved in road maintenance. The unit will be divided into eight zones in the city. In addition, the unit will work to solve the parking problems during peak traffic hours, resolving the issues of water leakage from various buildings and placing illegal outdoor furniture from businesses on the pavements of the city.
The city council is preparing to work with the Maldives Police Service (MPS) to expand the initiative. The unit is a major achievement in the ongoing efforts towards fulfilling the goal of Hihfaseyha Male' under the Strategic Action Plan (SAP) of the council.
