Switzerland has decided to join the Visa Facilitation Services (VFS) Centre in Male' City. The decision was informed during the farewell call by Ambassador of Switzerland to the Maldives Dominik Furgler on Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
During the meeting, Ambassador Furgler informed Minister Shahid of the decision made by Switzerland to facilitate the visa application process for Maldivians travelling to Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia, and Liechtenstein. Minister Shahid thanked Ambassador Furgler and the government of Switzerland for the decision.
During the meeting, Ambassador Furgler and Minister Shahid discussed economic cooperation and reflected on the strong partnership in the multilateral forum. Minister Shahid congratulated Ambassador Furgler on the successful completion of his tenure and thanked him for his hard work in strengthening the friendly relations between the Maldives and Switzerland. Both Minister Shahid and Ambassador Furgler also discussed ways to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries in areas of trade and economic cooperation and reflected on the strong partnership in the multilateral fora.
