Dharanboodhoo Council acknowledge remarkable progress by Gov't

Dharanboodhoo Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) have acknowledged remarkable progress by the administration. The statement was made during a meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as part of his official visit to Faafu Atoll.

Speaking at the meeting, President Solih reiterated his administration's strong commitment to inclusive island development, emphasizing the importance of active consultation with councils and the active participation of the community. The council members highlighted several notable development projects implemented by the administration, including initiatives for coastline protection, the construction of a high-quality football field with a running track, and the establishment of a social center to bolster the overall progress of the island.

The council members commended the administration's dedication to constructing a youth and community center on Dharanboodhoo. They also expressed concerns regarding the financial grant format for councils, emphasized the need for a multipurpose hall at Dharanboodhoo School, and raised the issue of insufficient space for nurses to work at the healthcare center.

In the meeting, President Solih received a comprehensive briefing from the WDC members about the committee's activities during the current term. Additionally, the committee highlighted the financial constraints impacting their work and underscored the necessity to revise the existing criteria for distributing council grants. The president addressed the concerns raised by the council and WDC members, assuring them of his unwavering commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to effectively address the identified issues.
