The government has conferred awards to 445 students that achieved the highest results in the 2021–2022 higher secondary and secondary examinations. The awards were conferred by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, First Lady Fazna Ahmed, and Vice President Faisal Naseem at the Top Achievers' Award 2021-2022 ceremony held at Dharubaaruge convention centre.
A total of 445 students who took the secondary examinations last year achieved a position in the prestigious national top 10 rankings. As such, 38 students received A* in three subjects and were honoured with the Edexcel Excellence Award. In addition, 20 students have achieved world rankings in individual subjects and 17 students received A* in five subjects.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali said President Solih has given special priority to the development of the education sector in the past five years. As such, she said that students who have not had the opportunity to participate in the higher secondary examinations before are getting the opportunity.
This year marks the first time in history that the students of Al Madhrasathul Arabiyyathul Islamiyya had the opportunity to compete for the award. A total of 2,849 students completed the higher secondary examination in the 2021-2022 academic year
