Ministry of Education has opened applications for the second batch of the Principals' Scholarship Scheme.
The education ministry has opened applications to offer 10 scholarships under the scheme. Interested parties are required to submit their application by June 11. The applicants are required to have achieved a bachelor's degree in education, have five years of experience as a teacher, and be willing to commit to serving in a government school for a designated period. Chosen candidates will receive the opportunity study at the University of Malaya and the International Islamic University of Malaysia.
The Principals' Scholarship Scheme was launched in 2022 to train qualified Maldivian principals to lead government-run schools nationwide. The first batch of principals who completed their training in Malaysia have been awarded their letters of appointment to run various schools.
The administration launched the programme to address the shortage of trained local principals and ensure the continuous professional development of principals leading schools across the country. The scholarship programme aims to ensure that well-trained Maldivian principals are appointed to all schools in the Maldives within the next three years.
