Indian State Minister for External Affairs concludes Maldives visit

Minister of State for External Affairs of India V. Muraleedharan has concluded his official visit to the Maldives. He was seen off at Velana International Airport (VIA) by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his two-day visit, State Minister Muraleedharan called on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and reflected on the long bonds of friendship between the Maldives and India. He also called on Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and reviewed significant milestones achieved in bilateral relations between both countries during the past four years.

Additionally, Minister Shahid and State Minister Muraleedharan discussed the ongoing projects under the grants and the lines of credit extended to the Maldives from India, through the Export-Import Bank of India and High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) scheme. Minister Shahid also expressed gratitude to the government and citizens of India for the constant support extended to the Maldives.

Furthermore, Minister Shahid and State Minister Muraleedharan witnessed the exchange of ten Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between both countries. The donation of Anti-tuberculosis (TB) medicine to the Ministry of Health also took place during the visit.

In addition, State Minister Muraleedharan participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Gan International Airport (GIA) Development Project and Addu Reclamation Project facilitated under the Indian Line of Credit. Minister Shahid and State Minister Muraleedharan also jointly inaugurated three tourism zones developed under HICDP in Feydhoo, Hithadhoo, and Hulhudhoo in Addu City.
